Left-to-right: Lord MacGuffin, Lord Dingwall, and Lord Macintosh |
I
just realized that the names of the three suitors for the hand of Merida in Pixar's Brave are all references. A MacGuffin is a plot device for an object that everyone wants but isn't really explained. I'm assuming that Dingwall is a reference to the town of Dingwall, in the Scottish Highlands. Perhaps the production crew stayed there when they were scouting areas for inspiration. And finally, Lord Macintosh is undoubtedly a reference to the fact that Steve Jobs was one of the founding fathers of Pixar.
